The journal “Agricultural Insurance – Materials and Studies” is an academic periodical published by the Agricultural Social Insurance Fund (KRUS) since 1999. Its mission is to disseminate and document scholarly research and practical solutions in the field of social insurance for farmers in Poland, the European Union, and worldwide.

The journal employs a double-blind review process, which means that the authors’ identities are unknown to the reviewers, and the reviewers’ identities are unknown to the authors. Since 2020, the journal has been published twice a year as a biannual and is released under an “early birds” policy. All articles are available under an open-access license: Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0).

The journal publishes articles on agricultural insurance, the demographics of rural and agricultural populations, the working and living conditions of farmers, and health care and rehabilitation in agriculture. The editorial board accepts only previously unpublished manuscripts that include abstracts in Polish and English.

Authors’ Responsibilities

 

 

 

Originality and Integrity of Research – Authors are required to present original research findings, conduct a thorough analysis, and properly cite their sources. Plagiarism, self-plagiarism, and data fabrication are unacceptable.

Transparency of Co-authorship – All individuals who have made a significant contribution to the publication should be listed as co-authors. Unethical practices, such as ghostwriting (omitting the actual authors) and guest authorship (attributing authorship to individuals who did not contribute to the work), are prohibited.

Corrections and Retractions – If an error is discovered in a published article, authors are required to immediately notify the editorial board and cooperate to correct or retract the publication.

 

 

 

Responsibilities of Reviewers

 

 

 

Confidentiality – All reviews are anonymous and subject to confidentiality (double-blind review). Reviewers may not share the reviewed materials with third parties or use the information contained therein for their own benefit.

Objectivity and Integrity – Reviews should be written in an objective and constructive manner. Personal criticism of authors is unacceptable.

Avoiding Conflicts of Interest – Reviewers should inform the editorial board of any potential conflicts of interest and recuse themselves from the review process if there are any ties that could compromise their impartiality.

Impartiality and Transparency – Decisions to accept or reject an article are based solely on its substantive merit, alignment with the journal’s scope, and scientific quality, regardless of the author’s nationality, gender, or affiliation.
Measures Against Scientific Misconduct – The editorial board takes measures to prevent dishonest practices, such as plagiarism or data fabrication. All articles may be subject to verification using anti-plagiarism systems.
Confidentiality and Data Protection – The Editorial Board ensures the confidentiality of the peer-review process and safeguards the personal data of authors and reviewers.
Publication Retraction Procedures – In the event that significant errors or ethical violations are detected, the Editorial Board may retract a publication by issuing an appropriate correction or statement.

Responsibilities of the Editorial Board

1. General Principles

The journal “Insurance in Agriculture – Materials and Studies” adheres to high ethical standards in scholarly publications, in accordance with international guidelines, such as those of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). All authors, reviewers, and editors are required to adhere to the principles of academic integrity, research integrity, and respect for copyright. The journal’s editorial policy remains independent of commercial influences, is based on ethical principles that encompass the entire publishing process, and ensures the confidentiality and security of the personal data of authors and all contributors (see also: Privacy Policy).

2. Authors’ Responsibilities

Originality and Research Integrity – Authors submitting their work for publication must guarantee that it is original and has not been previously published in another journal. Plagiarism and self-plagiarism are strictly prohibited.
Transparency of Authorship – Only individuals who have made a significant contribution to the work may be listed as co-authors. All individuals who have influenced the research should be listed as co-authors or acknowledged in the acknowledgments.
Data Access and Storage – Authors should make raw data available upon request by the editorial board and ensure that it is stored for an appropriate period of time.
Avoiding Duplicate Publication – Authors should not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously.
Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest – Authors must disclose any financial or personal ties that could influence the content of their research.
Correction of Errors – If significant errors are discovered in a published article, authors are required to report them immediately to the editorial board and cooperate in correcting them.
Use of AI – Authors are required to clearly label any content generated using AI.

3. Responsibilities of Reviewers

Anonymity – The review process is conducted as a double-blind review, meaning that reviewers do not know the authors’ identities and vice versa. Reviewers must not attempt to identify the authors.
Confidentiality – Materials submitted for review must not be disclosed to third parties.
Objectivity and Integrity – The evaluation of a manuscript should be based solely on its scientific merit, without personal bias. Criticism should be constructive.
Timeliness – Reviewers should submit their reviews by the specified deadline or notify the editorial board of any potential delay.
Avoiding conflicts of interest – Reviewers should not evaluate manuscripts if there is any conflict of interest (e.g., collaboration with the author, academic competition).

4. Responsibilities of the Editorial Board

Transparency of the publishing process – The Editorial Board is committed to a fair and transparent publication process, free from unjustified discrimination.
Decision-making – The final decision to accept or reject an article is based on its scientific merit, originality, and compliance with the journal’s guidelines.

Prevention of Misconduct – The editorial board takes measures to detect and eliminate instances of plagiarism, data fabrication, and violations of publication ethics.

5. Policy on Ethical Violations

If a violation of publication ethics is found, the editorial board has the right to:

request an explanation from the authors,
withdraw the publication from the journal,
notify the relevant academic institutions of the detected violations
