Article 115 of the 1921 Constitution of the Second Polish Republic introduced the possibility of recognising a church or religious association operating within the country. The wording of the article was not precise. According to its content, the legislator introduced the need to reach an agreement with the authorities of the church or religious association, to accept the regulations governing its operation in the Second Polish Republic, and to carry out a legislative procedure granting legal status to that church or religious association. The article describes the practical implementation of the above-mentioned procedure on the example of the Karaite religious association, whose statute was passed in 1936.
