The aim of this article is to show the compatibility of the canons on adult baptism with other legal norms concerning the particular situation of minors who have passed the age of infancy. The provisions for minors emphasize their subjectivity and recognize their ability to make decisions about their personal relationship with God. At the same time, they take into account their dependence on their parents and their age-specific characteristics and needs. The presentation of the canons on adult baptism and their relation to developmental needs and religious freedom is a response to the increasingly common practice of baptizing school-age minors. The article presents both the rationale and the method of applying the canons on adult baptism to the baptismal preparation of minors.
