FOCUS AND SCOPE

Kieleckie Studia Teologiczne (Kielce Theological Studies) is the official scholarly journal of the Theological Seminary in Kielce. It is dedicated to theological studies and contains the following sections: systematic theology, practical theology, biblical theology, history, philosophy, canon law, reviews. Kieleckie Studia Teologiczne is an open access journal with all its latest contents and previous issues digitalized and available for free from our website. Our principle is to provide students and researchers with free access to scholarship and with quality research, using modern technologies and internet delivery platforms. The articles and reviews published in the journal are written mainly in Polish, English, Italian, French, and German. Our contributors are both the senior, prominent and the young, promising Polish scholars representing local academic circle as well as other important academic centres.

Kielce Theological Studies requires high scientific standards of the submitted papers which are then subjected to a thorough and critical review process (double blind peer review). The journal promotes high ethical standards, originality of scholarly works, the rigorous employment of scientific methodologies, and their diversity.

Peer Review Process

Kielce Theological Studies uses a double-blind peer review system. Reviews are made in accordance with the principle of mutual anonymity of the reviewer and the author of the article (double-blind peer review), as well as the principle of avoiding the conflict of interests of the reviewer and the author of the article. When the author submits the article online via his/her personal account in the Editorial Manager, he/she will be asked to include the title of the contribution, an English summary, and the bibliography quoted in the article. The three mentioned items, along with the text of the article, will be sent to the reviewers when they are asked by the Editor to evaluate the contribution. The manuscript submitted online should not contain any information concerning the identity of the author. All the relevant data will included in the form that the author is asked to fill out when he/she sets up his/her personal account on the journal’s site.

OPEN ACCESS POLICY

This is an open access journal which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. This is in accordance with the BOAI definition of open access.

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

ARTICLE PROCESSING AND SUBMISSION CHARGES

Kielce Theological Studies does not levy any charges on authors to process or publish a paper. This includes article processing charges (APCs), submission charges, page charges, colour charges or any instance where money is required to complete the publication process.

CODE OF ETHICS

Kieleckie Studia Teologiczne (KST) is a journal committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics.  KST takes issues of copyright infringement, plagiarism or other breaches of best practice in publication very seriously. We seek to protect the rights of our authors and we always investigate claims of plagiarism or misuse of published articles. Equally, we seek to protect the reputation of the journal against malpractice. Where an article, for example, is found to have plagiarized other work or included third-party copyright material without permission or with insufficient acknowledgement, or where the authorship of the article is contested, we reserve the right to take action including, but not limited to: publishing an erratum or corrigendum (correction); retracting the article; taking up the matter with the head of department or dean of the author's institution and/or relevant academic bodies or societies; or taking appropriate legal action.

In order to provide our readers with a journal of highest quality, we set forth the following principles of our Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement. Any article or review found not in accord with these standards will be eliminated from the journal if malpractice is discovered at any time, even after actual publication. The double-blind peer review process also includes close scrutiny for any possible plagiarism or research fabrication or falsification. In accordance with the code of conduct, we will report any cases of suspected plagiarism or duplicate publishing.

The AUTHOR: Authors must ensure that they have written academically solid and original content that is the fruit of a genuine search for truth. Authors are also asked to abide by the typographical and editorial rules set by the journal's editor. Authors submitting their works to the journal for publication as original articles confirm that the submitted work represents the author's contributions and has not been copied or plagiarized, in whole or in part, from other works without clear citation. Any work or extended wording of other authors, contributors, or sources (including online sites) must be appropriately credited and referenced, and the submitter must be in possession of necessary permissions, if required, for reproducing any content from other sources. Authors submitting their papers also assert that the manuscript, as submitted, has not been accepted nor is under consideration for publication elsewhere. Authors are obliged to acknowledge and adequately cite all content reproduced from other sources. Authors also confirm that all the work in the submitted manuscript is original. Authors are expected to notify the journal editor immediately if any significant error in their work is identified, either before or after publication.

The REVIEWER: Reviewers are asked to contribute to the editorial decision-making process by issuing a balanced and fair evaluation of the reviewed papers. The reviewer's evaluation should be delivered without unnecessary delay, normally within three weeks. The reviewer must keep confidential any and all information supplied by the editor or author. He/she  must also alert the editor to any known previously –  published or – submitted content that seems suspiciously similar to that under review. The reviewer must express clearly her/his decision regarding the submitted article, with a recommendation of one of the following: accept; conditionally accept; revise and resubmit; reject. Any selected reviewer who feels unqualified to review the research reported in an assigned manuscript, or knows that its prompt review will be impossible, should notify the Editor-in-Chief and excuse himself from the review process.

The EDITOR: Misconduct and unethical behaviour, including examples outlined above, may be identified and brought to the attention of the Editor-in-Chief and publisher at any time, by anyone. Any person informing the editor or publisher of such conduct is obliged to provide sufficient information and evidence, after which an investigation will be undertaken until a successful decision or conclusion is reached. In the process, the author will be given the opportunity to respond to any allegations. If the Editor-in-Chief finds the allegations justified, the paper submitted will be rejected for publication for violation of the above-stated ethical standards. In a case of serious misconduct, a formal letter may be sent to the head of the author’s academic department, or a formal ban may be imposed on further submissions from that individual for a defined period.

Kielce Theological Studies is committed to follow the guidelines on good publication practice prepared by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), available for authors elsewhere on this website.
