Abstract

The article aims to show new perspectives on theology that video games offer. As a relatively new medium, only a few decades old, video games have only recently become the subject of comprehensive scientific study. Although rapid development of games could be observed already in the 1990s, it was only in the 21st century that the religious dimension of the video game phenomenon received more scholarly attention. Although groundbreaking works on this topic have been written in the English-language discourse in recent years, there is still a lack of research on this subject in Poland. In this work, I decided to examine a selected collection of English-language studies and focus on the theological potential of video games, their impact on players and, above all, the status of games as potential loci theologici.
