The article examines the scene featuring a drag queen during the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, treating it as an example of performative actions functioning as artistic communication. Reconstructing this sequence makes it possible to reveal the means and strategies employed by the director in shaping the meanings embedded in the inaugural spectacle. At the same time, the text discusses the broad social and media resonance triggered by the event, with particular attention to debates concerning cultural identity, values, and the boundaries of art in public space. The aim of the article is to juxtapose the performative analysis with the image that emerged in media discourse, in order to demonstrate how meanings surrounding this controversial scene were dynamically negotiated.
