Abstrakt
The article analyzes the influence of spirituality and religiosity on shaping attitudes and dietary practices across various religious traditions. The authors demonstrate that eating is not merely a biological act but carries profound symbolic, ethical, and spiritual dimensions. Based on biblical, theological, and comparative sources, the paper discusses the significance of fasting in Christianity, the laws of kashrut in Judaism, the halal system and Ramadan fasting in Islam, as well as vegetarianism rooted in the principle of ahimsa in Hinduism and Buddhism. A common feature of these traditions is the belief that dietary practices can serve as tools for spiritual formation, community building, and deepening the relationship with God. The article also addresses contemporary phenomena such as orthorexia and the “clean eating” movement, pointing out the risks of excessive dietary rigor. In conclusion, the authors emphasize the need for a holistic approach to nutrition that integrates care for the body with spiritual development, promoting gratitude, moderation, and humility toward the gift of food.
