
The aim of this article is to characterise the attempts of the Provincial Office of Public Security in Olsztyn, focused on operational recognition of the community of advocates who came from the Vilnius region. This measure was to be achieved through cooperation with informant David Lipkind, alias “Del”. The article draws on material held in the archives of the Institute of National Remembrance. An analysis of this issue leads to the conclusion that the Ministry of Public Security saw the advocates as potential opponents of the “new regime” and disregarded all principles of judicial and prosecutorial independence.
