
The article presents the legal basis for the functioning of the Central Database of Convicts, as well as the scope of information processed therein in the context of their unrestricted disclosure to users other than the Prison Service - in particular to Police officers. The main purpose of the article is to analyse the risks resulting from uncontrolled access to a wide range of data contained in the Central Database and the possibility of their unauthorized use, which raises the need to re-introduce zoning of access to data depending on the performed official duties.
