
The European Union Health Programme is a response to the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The impact of the pandemic was felt by all the health systems of individual European countries, affecting both patients and medical and administrative staff. The fundamental premise of the programme is to strengthen the resilience of the health systems of the EU member states by undertaking activities strongly focused on long-term health problems. In this respect, one key activity is the European Commission’s recommendation on using only safe medical equipment, which is to be achieved by 2028. This article presents the objectives of the aforementioned programme and, more specifically, the guidelines concerning medical infrastructure and apparatus in the context of the current needs of the Polish health care system.
