The Ukrainian Council of Churches is the advisory body of Ukrainian government on religious matters. In the wake of the 2022 war with Russia, the Council’s primary concern was to ensure humane treatment of prisoners of war and civilians. The Council also issued opinions on the necessity of providing support to Ukrainians from international institutions and organizations. Previously, the Council has also issued opinions on matters related to freedom of conscience and religion during the pandemic and related to events in Maidan, Crimea and Donbas.
