This article examines the role of women journalists portrayed in biographies from 2019–2023. The aim is to examine how filmmakers have portrayed the work of women journalists and their image. Three productions were selected for detailed analysis: „Bombshell” from 2019, directed by Jay Roach; „She said” from 2022, directed by Maria Schrader; and „Boston Strangler” from 2023, directed by Matt Ruskin. The article addresses the history of women in journalism, the emergence of the Polish women’s press, and analyzes the position of women and men in the broadcasting market, the main tasks of a journalist, investigative journalism, and journalistic ethics. The second part of the work analyzes the aforementioned films and attempts to answer the question of how the role of female journalists has been portrayed by filmmakers and how it has changed over the years.
