
The article addresses the issue of restoring the good name of individuals wrongfully convicted between 1944 and 1989. It discusses the legal grounds for declaring null and void the rulings of law enforcement and judicial authorities issued as a consequence of independence-related activities. Particular attention is devoted to the legal classification of offenses alleged or attributed to the victims. Drawing on archival records, the article outlines the circumstances of the unjustified arrest and imprisonment of Bp. Dr. Szczepan Sobalkowski. It also presents the facts and evidence that formed the basis for his judicial rehabilitation. The analysis of this case leads to the conclusion that the process of rehabilitating wrongfully convicted persons has not yet been completed. In the system of restoring historical justice after the communist era, the legal act regulating this matter remains indispensable.
