Review process

Procedure for reviewing scientific papers submitted for publication in Current Problems of Forensic Science:

  1. The procedure for reviewing articles is in accordance with the recommendations of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
  2. Submission of a text for publication in Current Problems of Forensic Science (PWK) is tantamount to the Author/Authors’ consent to initiating the article review procedure.
  3. Submitted materials are subjected to preliminary formal evaluation by the Scientific Council and Scientific Editorial Board of PWK, especially in terms of their compliance with the publishing requirements and the subject areas of the publication.
  4. As a standard, articles are reviewed by two independent reviewers who are not members of the Scientific Council and the Scientific Editorial Board and are not full-time employees of the publishing units of the journal. Due to the narrow range of experts in certain fields or forensic specialties, especially in the field of forensic technology, exceptions to the principle of independent review are allowed, i.e. the appointment of specialists from among UW and PTK employees.
  5. Submitted articles are not forwarded to reviewers from the same institution the Author/Author is from.
  6. The papers are reviewed anonymously. The reviewers do not know the names of the Authors.  The author/authors shall be informed of the outcome of the review procedure while maintaining the confidentiality of the review.  In contentious situations, another reviewer is appointed.
  7. Articles published in PWK are published under a Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial 4.0 International license. (CC BY-NC 4.0)
