Abstract

French political thought springs from the Christian tradition and the Voltaire tradition. Positive law was affected by the Christian tradition. In the modern day, the Code of Civil Procedure, laws of defence are explicitly related to the natural law. Recently the Christian thought has been diluted in various thought or preaching movements, represented by the so-called leftist Christians. The Voltaire tradition took a step backwards to give way to Marxist materialism. Since mid 1970s reforms started by Christians have appeared, but they negate Christian values. Simultaneously, a revival of these values is perceptible.
