Abstract

The subject of this article is a literary work entitled "The Story of the Glorious Resurrection of the Lord". It is the only complete religious drama from the 16th century. It is considered one of the most valuable pieces of Polish dramatic literature of that period. The work has been abbreviated as "Częstochowski's Dialogue" or "Częstochowski's Mystery", meaning one and the same Easter Mystery, by Mikołaj of Wilkowiec, superior of the Pauline Fathers in Krakow on Skalka, later provincial of the order in Częstochowa. The story of the glorious Resurrection was composed from fragments of the Gospels, interspersed with liturgical texts, church hymns and poetic texts by the author, who selected and coordinated the Gospel accounts in such a way as to give a complete picture of the event depicted.
