History of the magazine
Current Problems of Forensic Science (PWK) is a scientific journal devoted to issues related to forensic science, criminology and other related forensic sciences in the broadest sense. It has been published as a yearbook for almost 30 years, with the first issue appearing in 1996. Initially published by the Department of Forensic Science at the University of Warsaw, and since 2000 jointly with the Polish Forensic Association (PTK). The first volume, edited by: Ewa Gruza and Tadeusz Tomaszewski, contained works dedicated to Professor Zbigniew Czeczot to honor his many years of scientific and teaching work in connection with his retirement. To meet the demand of the community of theoreticians and practitioners of forensic science, this volume initiated a publishing series that continues uninterruptedly as a yearbook. This was made possible, among other things, thanks to the establishment of fruitful cooperation with the Polish Society of Forensic Science, providing financial support, expanding the circle of authors, and reaching a wider readership of the periodical. This cooperation was formalized in a June 7, 2010, agreement between the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw and the Polish Forensic Association on the joint preparation and publication of the journal. In 2013, it was included in the “B” part of the then-Ministry of Science and Higher Education’s list of scoring journals (3 points), and in 2020 it was included in the Ministry of Education and Science’s list of scoring journals (20 points). It is currently indexed in reference databases and search engines: Erich Plus, Index Copernicus International, BazHum, POL-index, CEJSH, and Polona BN and Polona BN.
