The Code of Criminal Procedure regulation impose on the prosecutor the obligation to inspect external corpses at the place where they were found. At the same time, they allow to transfer this activity to the Police or other authorized bodies and prosecutors seem to be willing to use it. Publicly available statistics indicate that prosecutors hand over to the Police and other authorities almost 90% of investigations. The results of case studies cited in the literature prove that in many cases prosecutors present at the site of inspection give the Police leadership over all activities. Thus, in practice, the responsibility for the proper conduct of the inspection rests with the Police officers. This article discusses the issue of preparing police officers and having appropriate qualifications for them to carry out a visual inspection of the corpses and the place where they were found.
