This article discusses possibility of using DNA analysis in cases of disappearances, as well as for the identification of victims of armed conflicts. Author presents the practice of conducting by non-governmental organizations matters related to the disappearance, par-ticularly considering the possibility of entrusting the operators of competence in the creation of DNA databases, which facilitate the execution of their statutory activities. In this context, the author examines the provisions in the field of protection of personal data and the potential risks. In these deliberations does not escape from human rights issues.
