Withdrawal of the State? Return of the State? Change of the State. Review Essay on the Book by Stephen Paul Haigh Future States. From International to Global Political Order (Farnham: Ashgate, 2013)

Published: 2014-12-31

Abstract

The main argument of the book is that as a result of globalisation processes we may observe a superb example of transformation of the Westphalian international states system into neo-medieval embedded cosmopolitan states. And, maybe even more importantly, that nation states are both objects as well as active creators of those global processes. Those new contemporary form of states create new forms of identities, loyalties and political representations.
