In doctrine, based on the analysis of legal events preceding liquidation, a basic distinction is made between the following types of cooperative liquidation: statutory liquidation, voluntary liquidation and compulsory liquidation. The legal grounds for the transition or placing of a cooperative into liquidation are exhaustively defined in cooperative law. The multitude of legal grounds for the liquidation of a cooperative may lead to a convergence of these grounds and, thus, to their competition, which, if possible, must be resolved.
