The Lodzer Zeitung was the first newspaper in Łódź, established at the beginning of the second half of the 19th century. It developed alongside Łódź, from a small-format four-page newspaper to a full-size, eight-page newspaper published in German. During this time, it fulfilled its role not only as a medium for informing entrepreneurs, craftsmen, and merchants about the economic situation, but also supported the German community of Łódź in cultural and national dimensions. This article presents the 1899 edition (at the turn of the 20th century) with text types and selected topics related to everyday life. The analysis focused on the vocabulary of advertisements and press announcements, in their structural and lexical dimensions. The article contributes to and encourages further scholarly exploration of historical press texts.
