The subject of the text is a phenomenological and logical study of the phenomenon of prayer (theological formulas). The analysis will be presented in a metalanguage of the act of praying using the symbolic language of formal logic. It should be noted that if prayer is sentence-like in nature, it can be analyzed using logical tools (the language of formal logic). However, these tools are not fully adequate when considering subjective-religious matters, although they are important in examining the formal status of prayer. In the following parts of the text, “subjective” logics will be indicated, particularly F. Brentano’s psychology, H. Rickert’s epistemology, and the logic and phenomenology of E. Husserl. The aim of the text is to demonstrate that: (i) in the phenomenological reinterpretation of the foundations of logic, theological formulas are fundamentally equal to other statements; (ii) when studying theological formulas, the phenomenological method is much more adequate than the formal-logical method. The methods used are: (i) logical analysis; (ii) comparative study.
