History of the journal

"Our Past" was first published in 1946, with Fr. Alfons Schletz CM as the first editor-in-chief. Already in the first volume published in 1946, the program was formulated: "Everything, therefore, that has only to do with the history of Catholic culture in Poland will become an object of our interest and research. We will publish treatises on the history of the Church in Poland, the history of religious orders, the history of theology, the history of missionary work in our country and abroad; treatises of a more general nature, theological and philosophical, historical-legal and social, connected with Polish culture, will also find a place on the pages of our publication. [...] There is, however, another idea... Namely, we wish to contribute, to the best of our ability, to the gathering and preparation of scholarly materials prior to the solemn celebration of the millennium of the Baptism of Poland.

On the current page of Our Past, see: Digital Library, it is possible to access online the archival texts (volumes 1-133).
