Abstract

The subject of the paper is the figure of Bishop Sebastian Ignatius Rostock, Ordinary of Wrocław (1664- 1671), as an eminently passionate and distinguished bibliophile for diocesan culture. The article is divided into six parts. The first presents the life and activities of Bishop Rostock. The next discusses the content of the book collection of the Ordinary of Wrocław. The third part is devoted to the provenance of the individual works in the book collection in question. The antique bindings in Bishop Rostock's book collection became the subject of the fourth part. The problem of Bishop Rostock's book acquisitions is discussed in the penultimate section. The last section, on the other hand, deals with the reading interests of Bishop Rostock and the people associated with his entourage.
