Father Alfons Schletz was the founder and editor of the "Our Przeszłość" journal in the years 1946-1981. The "Our Przeszłość" was established in September 1946 in Krakow, at the Theological Institute of Missionary Priests. Its main goal was to publish studies on the history of the Church and Catholic culture in Poland. Despite the good reception of the first volumes, Stalinist repressions resulted in the suspension of activities for nine years. However, thanks to the support of the church hierarchy and the financial support of Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński, the publishing house regularly published materials. After the death of Father A. Schletz, who was the main figure in the editorial office, his work was continued by Father Tadeusz Gocłowski, and then by Father Jan Dukała. With the new editors, the composition and subject matter of the published materials changed, but the profile of the publishing house was preserved. After 1981, there was a change in generations of historians publishing in "Nasza Przeszłości", as well as the emergence of new topics related to the history of art, sacred architecture and the socio-cultural life of the Church. Thanks to its financial independence and the support of the Committee for Scientific Research, the publishing house was able to continue its operations. Father A. Schletz dreamed of publishing a monographic volume devoted to the activities of missionaries and nuns in Poland, which was realized in 1981 on the occasion of the four hundredth anniversary of the birth of Saint. Vincent de Paul. The 50th anniversary of the "Our Past" journal is a tribute to its founders and all people involved in its activities over the years.
