The study analyzes legal regulations and requirements concerning the theological and pedagogical preparation of religion teachers in Polish schools. In particular, it discusses the changes introduced by agreements between the Conference of the Polish Episcopate and the Minister of National Education, which specify qualification criteria for religion teachers in various types of schools. The agreement from 2019 clarifies the requirements for religion teachers in secondary and primary schools. The article emphasizes the importance of proper preparation of religion teachers, both in terms of theological knowledge and pedagogical skills, for effective religious education in schools. The author highlights the need to adapt regulations to changing social and religious circumstances, underscoring the importance of clearly defined competency standards for religion teachers in Poland.
