This article discusses the issue of how to address disputed achievements in mountaineering – the sport which is performed in the high mountains. It covers the presentation of methods of the verification of disputed declarations of mountaineers, which include among others: examination of photographic and film documentation of the expedition, drawing conclusions based on traces left in the disputed performance location, verification of the mountaineer’s declaration. Said methods are illustrated by examples taken from real-life. Emphasis is put to the need to exploit the expertise in the field of forensics for the purpose of verification of disputed sporting performances
