The aim of this article is to analyse the Rules of Procedure for Intervention, issued by the German Bishops’ Conference, on how to proceed in cases of sexual abuse of minors, effective from 1 January 2020. The article outlines the subject and object scope of this document, which actors and authorities are responsible for dealing with cases of sexual abuse of minors and how the ecclesiastical and secular sides cooperate in detecting these crimes. The article also highlights how the canonical criminal process is conducted, taking into account the rights and obligations of the victim and the suspect. In the article, the Author also referred to common ecclesiastical and secular law (Strafgesetzbuch).
