The article presents cases of desecration of places of worship and religious symbols in the diocese of Kielce in the years 1944-1989. During the forty-five years of communist rule, they took the form of the theft of objects intended for worship, devastation of sacred buildings, conversion of a church and chapel into secular objects, removal of crosses from the walls of state buildings, and moving figures of saints to invisible places. All of the above-mentioned examples of profanation did not significantly affect the organization of pastoral work in the Kielce diocese. However, they are an example of negative attitudes towards holiness recognized by Catholics.
