The patient’s consent is a document determining the scope as well as conditions of medical personnel’s interference with patient’s privacy which is protected under the Constitution and other legal acts. Obtaining an informed consent from the patient is a crucial element of both diagnostics and treatment. Doctors are obliged to obtain the consent to providing patients with healthcare services aimed at rescuing their lives, as well as preserving, restoring or improving their health, except where they require immediate medical intervention. In the Polish legislation, a major role in regulating the doctor-patient relationship is played by the Act on the Professions of Doctors and Dentists, and the Act on Medical Activity.
