The article presents the circumstances surrounding the establishment of the Diocese of Częstochowa. It focuses primarily on Poland’s regaining of independence in 1918, the determination of its indisputable state borders, and the organization
of numerous internal affairs, including those related to the activity of the Catholic Church. To this end, the Polish authorities initiated talks with the Holy See, aiming to conclude a concordat. In order to achieve this, it was first necessary to reorganize
the metropolitan and diocesan structures of the Polish Church. Thanks to the efforts of both the government and the episcopate, the concordat was concluded on February 10, 1925. As a result, Pope Pius XI issued the circumscription bull Vixdum Poloniae unitas on October 28, 1925, which established, among others, the Diocese of Częstochowa.
