The subject of life and death is significant for the culture and mentality of any nation. The aim of this article is to reconstruct representations of the linguistic image of the Russian world using examples from the Russian language which are united by the idea of “life”. The group of phraseological units with the components ‘жизнь’ / ‘life’ and ‘жить’ / ‘to live’ is determined and the phraseosemantic groups united by the above-mentioned components are defined in the article. The group of phraseological units with these components is represented by 136 units, which are selected from 15 lexicographic sources.
