Abstract

The author of this article, as an eyewitness to Cardinal Hlond's wartime odyssey, has presented the course of his departure in 1939, his wanderings and his mission abroad, also through the eyes of his contemporaries, in order to highlight facts that have not always been sufficiently respected in publications. The memoir is a testimony to the historical truth about the real motives and circumstances of Primate Hlond's departure in 1939.
