Abstract

On May 8-10, 2002, the 775th anniversary of the arrival of the Dominican Fathers to the city was celebrated in Gdańsk. The main point of the anniversary celebrations was the international scientific conference entitled "Gdańsk and European heritage. The role of the Dominican Order in the history of Gdańsk." The Gdańsk conference was organized by the monastery of o. Dominicans in Gdańsk, the Faculty of Philology and History of the University of Gdańsk and the Institute of Archeology of the University of Warsaw. The publication of materials from the discussed scientific conference was announced, which will undoubtedly allow for a monographic study of the history of the Gdańsk monastery in the future. At the same time, the papers, announcements and discussions presented to scholars of various specializations revealed shortcomings in the research on broadly understood Mendicant issues, and especially on the Dominican Order.
