Abstract

The work contains several source texts from the Archives of Romanum Societatis Iesu regarding Father Paweł Giżycki, Anna Omiecińska's confessor, and herself. Jesuit sources present Anna Omiecińska, also known as Anna Zbrożkowa, as a person of great piety and patience. She was born in 1709, she came from a wealthy family. From an early age, she demonstrated extraordinary piety, knew prayers and practiced asceticism. Despite the requests of her family, she was married off at the age of 14, but this marriage was a source of suffering and burden for her. Ultimately, thanks to her determination, the marriage was annulled and Anna joined the nunnery. She led a monastic life for many years, being an example of virtue and piety for others. She died in 1731, and after her death numerous miracles and signs of God's grace occurred. Her cult developed among people who turned to her with requests for intercession. Father Paweł Giżycki, also described in Jesuit sources, was a valued priest who devoted himself to pastoral work and the construction of churches. Both of these biographies, although stylized as hagiographic, present people deeply devoted to God and serving others.
