
The presented translation work deals with the European bishops’ vota sent to the Preparatory Commission of the Second Vatican Council in the years 1959–1960, which significantly influenced the subsequent reform of minor orders. The first part of the article presents the historical context of the issue in question. The main part of the article contains excerpts from letters sent by bishops and their first translation into Polish. They concern minor orders, tonsure, celibacy and the role of laity in the Church. The third part summarizes the main ideas concerning the reform, which also provided its initial perspectives. The article aims to recognize both the initial situation for the reform and its original perspectives resulting from the vota of European bishops.
