The status of the child in the legal system and the family of old-time Poland was primarily regulated by the norms of common law. In the historical period in question, the need to interfere in the mutual relations of parents and children was not recognized, leaving to the former the right to decide on the fate of their offspring. Only in some cases, when the legislator recognized the need to protect the welfare of the child in a special way, do we see activities aimed at providing it with the necessary protection. The rights of children were not of much interest until at the end of the First Polish Republic, but due to the political situation in the country, the proposed solutions could not be effectively implemented.
