The article contains the analysis of changes in the statute of limitations of criminal liability after the entry into force of the amendment to the Polish Penal Code of July 7, 2022. The issues presented are: 1) extension of the limitation period for the crime of murder from 30 to 40 years; 2) modification of the commencement of the limitation period for offenses containing the element of harm, committed over a period longer than one day; 3) extension of the limitation period for certain crimes committed to the detriment of a minor – until the victim turns 40; 4) regulation according to which, if in the course of initiated criminal proceedings there is a reasonable suspicion that another crime has been committed, the limitation period is extended from the date on which the first procedural step is taken to determine whether it has been committed; 5) expanding the catalog of crimes that are not subject to a statute of limitations.
