Polish researchers of the Middle Ages have in recent years demonstrated a considerable activity in the field of writing biographical monographs of Polish medieval bishops. By analyzing the features and construction of such treatises from the last 25 years, one can recognize three models of writing they represent. The article comprises observations and conclusions drawn on the basis of the composition of six chosen biographical monographs devoted to Polish medieval bishops, thanks to which the tendencies in writing such works in the recent years may be followed through. An evident change from chronological, through deductive to the most popular problematic model can be noticed. The presentation of the evolution of the model of biographical monograph of medieval Polish bishops has been supplemented with reviews of six chosen publications, which allows for a deeper reflection on the topic of how to write about medieval bishops.
