The 15th Conference of the Section of Archives of Universities, Scientific and Cultural Institutions of the Association of Polish Archivists took place in Katowice on June 21-23, 2007, and was organized by the Archives of the University of Silesia. About 100 archivists from various regions of Poland participated in it, mainly from educational and religious institutions and museums. The topic of the conference was a discussion of the relationship between archives and their users and a presentation of modern archiving methods. During the conference, issues of financing archival work and access to collections were also discussed, and Public Relations workshops were organized. The conclusions and demands submitted during the conference focused, among others, on the need to create a guide to Polish archives. Young archivists constituted a significant part of the participants, which may indicate a growing interest in this field of work. The conference was organized in the atmosphere of a meeting with the tradition of the Upper Silesia region, and its media patron was the Faculty of Radio and Television of the University of Silesia. The organizers assured that the papers will be published, and in the fall, archivists will have another opportunity to meet at the 5th General Congress of Polish Archivists in Olsztyn.
