On the curse put on the Polish soil by Radzim-Gaudenty, Archbishop of Gniezno, an attempt at a new perspective

Abstract

A new approach to the problem of the curse should be included not only in research on this issue, but in general in research on the problem of the reception of religious principles and Christian doctrine in the lands of the first Piast dynasty. When attempting to solve this problem, we must not forget to constantly enrich the research questionnaire and approach the problem from both an interdisciplinary and comparative point of view, which will allow us to overcome the current historiographical impasse. Future research on the curse will have to take into account primarily the context of the words spoken by Gallus and knowledge about the religious culture of the Brave monarchy, in particular the cult of saints and relics.
