Abstract

The study attempts to characterise the liturgy in the missions and in the parishes of the missionary priests in Poland from the middle of the seventeenth century until 1864. It points out that the liturgy of the missionaries, although based on the rubric and influenced by the Baroque, partly retained its specific Polish character. It is also emphasised that the missionaries were concerned with the richness and variety of forms in the celebration of the Divine Office.
