In the thirteenth century in Krakow, two bishops in quick succession decided to resign from their positions as shepherds of the diocese. Bishop Wincenty Kadlubek resigned in 1217, while Bishop Iwo Odrowąż did so in 1223. Both bishops of Krakow took the monastic habit. Bishop Wincenty entered the Cistercian monastery in Jędrzejów, while Bishop Iwo chose the community of Canons Regular in Mstów. The purpose of this article is to examine the circumstances that led to the resignation of Wincenty Kadłubek and Iwo Odrowąż from their bishopric in Cracow.
