Adam Chmielowski's participation in the January Uprising

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to present the participation of Adam Chmielowski, later Brother Albert, in the January Uprising. Adam Chmielowski took part in the uprising when he was only seventeen years old. He did not play a prominent role. It is not surprising, therefore, that his participation in the uprising is not well reflected in the sources of this period. Sources referring to Chmielowski's participation in the uprising are few, fragmentary and mostly indirect, i.e. referring to other people or matters and mentioning Chmielowski only in passing.
