This article is devoted to Jan Tabinski, a church painter active in Galicia in the second half of the 19th century and in the first decade of the 20th century. He was the author of numerous mural and easel paintings on religious themes for the churches of the Lwów archdiocese and, in particular, the diocese of Przemyśl. He also restored earlier works of art, and occasionally painted portraits. Jan Tabiński was a graduate of the Kraków School of Fine Arts, and it is possible that he also perfected his artistic skills in Vienna. At the beginning of his career, he worked on the renovation and decoration of the interiors of the Łańcut castle, later he devoted himself mainly to work for the Church, painting the interiors of Galician churches and doing sacred paintings in a realistic style. From 1880, he lived permanently in Rzeszów, where he died at the age of 79.
