The present paper is the last publication in the cycle dedicated to the Eastern and Western Fathers of the Church in biblical catechesis, in which the Fathers being referred to as the great doctors of the Church were considered. The cycle was focused on drawing forth practical application, based on the life and work of these Fathers, specifically for the biblical catechesis, and does not pretend either to be the patristic study or to present the totality of themes related to each of the Fathers which can be put to use in catechesis.
The present paper is dedicated to St. Augustine. There were presented suggestions for the biblical catechesis which can help in realization the purposes referring to both gaining knowledge and developing skills, as well as to shaping attitudes. Also the basic tasks of catechesis were considered. The paper includes also suggestions with respect to the preparing the religion teachers for exploiting the heritage of the Church Fathers. Finally, some remarks summarizing the whole cycle were given.
