This study addresses the issue of a patent attorney acting as a representative in intellectual property proceedings. By amending the Code of Civil Procedure, the legislator, with the Act of February 13, 2020, expanded the list of existing rights of a patent attorney in
civil proceedings. It was therefore necessary to discuss the new status of a patent attorney as a representative in civil cases. The discussed article therefore raises the following issues: the participation of attorneys in civil proceedings, separate proceedings in intellectual property cases and the role of patent attorneys in these proceedings.
