The main topic of this article is the theme of Mary in the Holy Cross Sermons - the oldest monument of the Polish language known to us. The creator of the sermons collection limited his narrative about the Mother of God, and despite the fact that he had the opportunity to do so, he did not present her high rank and significant role in Christianity. In the article Blessed Virgin from two collections of sermons chronologically close to the Holy Cross literary monument was compared to that from polish sermons. By comparing what other clergymen and the author of the Holy Cross Sermons wrote about Her, we can see that the narrative about the Mother of Jesus in the latter is sparse, limited in content and quantity, and closed within dogmas.
