Among many intriguing and not fully researched areas of Józef Ignacy Kraszewski’s life (1812-1887) are his relationships with outstanding figures of the 19th century. One of such areas is his relationship with the Resurrectionists. Basing his research on primary sources (from the Archives of Resurrectionists in Rome), the author shows the continuity of the relationship and a deep mutual respect. He questions the allegations about an inimical attitude of the author towards the Resurrectionists. He presents a detailed description of Kraszewski’s audience with Pope Pius IX in 1858, his relations with the Resurrectionists in the years 1867-1877 and his statement from 1879. The article definitely verifies common knowledge about the relationship between Kraszewski and the Resurrectionists. Further research might show spiritual influence of Resurrectionists on some activities of Kraszewski.
